Our leadership

Robert Schaefer CEO

Robert is the CEO and co-founder of AlsoEnergy where he has led the company to become the leading independent provider of monitoring systems for the global renewable energy industry.

Throughout his 30 year career, Robert has demonstrated broad experience across management, engineering and operations. Prior to AlsoEnergy, Robert held various positions in of Breese Hill LLC from 2005 through 2007 including C.O.O., V.P. Engineering, President and Chief Executive Officer. During this time, Robert oversaw the specification, design, prototype and manufacturing launch of three generations of computer data storage products manufactured in China, six generations of computer tape products manufactured in the U.S. and established sales and partnering opportunities in Asia and Europe. Prior to Breese Hill, Robert developed leading products for Hertrich Development, MaxOptix and Digital Equipment Corporation.

Robert's education includes a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from M.I.T and a Master of Science in Control Systems from the University of Colorado, Boulder. In addition, Robert is a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado. He has discovered and developed techniques to reduce costs leading to six patents in the field of robotics and one in renewable energy systems.

Holden Caine CTO

With a career focused on developing high-performance, low-cost web-based software solutions for the digital imaging market, Holden was most recently Vice-President of software development for FujiFilm, USA. He served in similar capacities with Applied Graphics Technologies and the Eastman Kodak research lab. He holds a Computer Engineering degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Brian Musfeldt CFO

Brian has over 20 years of experience in various financial and accounting oversight roles, primarily with telecom and SAAS software companies. Prior to joining AlsoEnergy, Brian was the CFO for both public and private companies including ConnectFirst, Zayo Bandwidth, and Intermap Technologies. Brian started his career in public accounting with a focus on high-tech and emerging markets, working with KPMG and Arthur Andersen. Brian’s achievements include CPA, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Accounting (University of Colorado), and a Masters in Business Administration (Colorado State University).

Tier 3 Support Technician

AlsoEnergy is an industry leader in providing technology solutions for energy production assets and is currently seeking an experienced support technician with proven knowledge of the solar industry to support the Boulder, CO office.

The Tier 3 Support Technician is responsible for providing high end technical support for the AlsoEnergy products to our key customer base as well as our Tier 1 and Tier 2 support team. Tier 3 support responsibilities include managing organization of key client projects while coordinating customer’s installations using internal resources and vendor support. This position provides the highest level of support to end users by handling service requests that have been escalated by lower tiers. It also includes working with your own assigned customer list and maintaining a familiar line of communication with Installers, Electricians, Engineers, Project Managers and Upper Management.

This individual is accountable for ensuring effective support to our clients by providing the technical expertise, assistance, and coordination necessary to resolve requests in a timely and accurate manner. The ideal candidate will be very customer-focused and able to work with different teams who have a vested interest in the client.   • Work in a collaborative team environment to address customer’s technical problems across a broad portfolio of electronic hardware and SaaS platforms via phone, e-mail and support ticketing system
  • Evaluate existing processes and/or user needs to analyze, design, recommend and implement process changes
  • Work directly with engineering and development staff to bring Tier 3 support cases to a conclusion
  • Create and maintain comprehensive client specific project documentation
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge base of your client’s technical infrastructure ecosystem, culture and communication preferences
  • Keep customer’s informed of progress, changes and solutions in a timely and effective manner
  • Coordinate internal resources and third-party vendors for the flawless execution of customer’s projects
  • If needed, manage the relationship between AlsoEnergy and your assigned customer’s Management/Executive team
  • Train, coach, and mentor lower tier technicians with the desire to build their skills, understanding, and confidence as support technicians
  • Have solutions before bringing up a problem with management or sales
  • Promote a positive work environment by helping to build a culture of acceptance, confidence, professional growth and comradery


  • Willingness to learn about all aspects of AlsoEnergy products to gain the knowledge to provide high-quality technical support for the customer base
  • Complete a multi-week formal training on the products to prepare you to respond to inbound phone calls to act as frontline support for product and service issues
  • Organizational, technical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office and computer literate


  • High School diploma is required, college degree is preferred
  • 2+ years electrical experience with components of solar monitoring
  • Working knowledge of solar industry best practices, and diagnosis/repair of common solar failures
  • Ability to take detailed documentation and assessment of any/all task at hand
  • Experience troubleshooting monitoring equipment and meters
  • passionate about the solar industry, and willingness to learn new skills
  • Successfully complete applicable technical training program
  • Experience with hardware and software products a plus

Position Details:
Title: Tier 3 Support Technician
Type: Full-time/Non-Exempt/Monday – Friday (occasional weekend work required)
Environment: Extensive customer interaction in a fast-paced, call center environment.
